I am a new user to Maxqda. In my research project, I have video data, already transcribed with time stamps. What would be the best strategy- to code the video data or to code the transcript (linked to the transcript via time codes) - or both?

Dear Hanna,
Thank you for your question! This strongly depends on what data you are using and what the goal of your research is. In general, if you are mainly interested in what is being said (e.g. in a video interview) it is better to code the transcript. On the contrary, if you are mainly interested in the visuals, for example when analysing an advertisement, it may be better to code the video itself.
I hope this helps! In case of any remaining questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards on behalf of the MAXQDA support team,
