My coded text segments contain a number of word combinations such as 'climate change' that I would like to treat as one word for word frequency analysis. How can you do this? Thank you!

Dear Angela,
Thank you for the following question.
To treat frequent word combinations as single tokens in MAXQDA, you can use the "Stopp-Wort-Liste" (stop word list) feature to exclude individual words from being counted separately. Here’s how to do it:
1. Create a Stop Word List: Go to MAXDictio > Stopp-Wort-Listen and add the individual words (e.g., "climate," "change," "natural," "disaster") to the stop word list.
2. Use Word Combinations: When analyzing word combinations, ensure that you select the option to ignore these stop words. This way, the combinations will be treated as single entities.
3. Visualize with Word Cloud: After applying the stop word list, generate a word cloud to see the combinations represented as single tokens.
This approach will help you analyze the combinations without them being split into individual words.
If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Thank you very much for the prompt answer. My question goes further. Having analyzed frequent word combinations, I would like MAXQda to treat them as one word (one token?) so that the combination is not treated as two words in the word clonge. See example, climate and change are counted separately, so is natural and disaster. How can I solve this?
To treat specific word combinations like "climate change" as a single word for word frequency analysis in MAXQDA, you can use the Word Combinations feature. Here’s how:
Go to MAXDictio > Word Combinations.
In the settings, you can define the word combinations you want to analyze.
Ensure that the option to ignore separators is activated, so that combinations separated by commas or other punctuation are not counted separately.
You can also enable the lemmatization option to group inflected forms of words.
This will allow you to analyze the frequency of your specified word combinations effectively.
If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
