I am not able to export my memos. All other coding software allows you to export your memos with the text that you highlighted before adding the memo. Max QDA is only letting me export the text OF the memo, the text ATTACHED to the memo. The AI chat bot told me to "activate" my codes, and then "Retrieve segments" from the Reports tab, but "Retrieve Segments" is grayed out, meaning I cannot do anything. The AI bot then said to go back and manually recode all of the memos, but that can't possibly be the only way to do this? This is a tool that all other coding software can do with just one step, so why is this taking me several steps in Max QDA and I still can't do it?

Hi Julia,
Thank you for your interest. Of course, this was our answer via ticket:
Please note that in MAXQDA, you can convert memos into documents and then encode them with the associated text. However, when you export memos, only the memo text is exported, not the text to which the memo is attached.
One possible solution is to convert the memo into a document by right-clicking on it in the Memos overview and selecting “Convert to document”:
This allows you to export the document, here in the selection you can include the demo:
Does this work for you?
If not, please contact us again, we are here to help.
We appreciate your patience and your cooperation!
Best regards from the MAXQDA Support Team, Camilla
