Error message: MAXQDA is damaged. Move it to trash.

Modified on Thu, 10 Apr at 5:49 PM

If this message appears during the installation process of MAXQDA on a Mac, macOS Gatekeeper, which guards your Mac and protects it from malware, is probably set to accept applications downloaded from the app store only.

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy and scroll down to Security.

If Gatekeeper blocks an application, it will usually display the option Open Anyway below the Security options. If this option is available to you, please confirm that you want to open MAXQDA anyway.

If this option is not available to you, please set Gatekeeper to allow applications from the App Store and identified developers.

Please note that Gatekeeper checks both the installation file MAXQDA24.dmg and MAXQDA itself. You may therefore receive the message twice. The first time when you try to open the DMG file with a double click and the second time when you try to start MAXQDA after copying MAXQDA from the DMG file to your applications folder.
