MAXQDA automatically saves all documents, codes, memos, variables, etc. in a project file. This is similar to Word. MAXQDA is the MS Word program and the project file is a Word file. MAXQDA saves its file on your computer with the extension mqda.
Where is my data saved?
The project file is saved locally on your computer. MAXQDA has no access to your data and does not save it.
How do I find my project file?
MAXQDA normally saves the project file in the standard documents folder.
Windows C:\Users\firstname.lastname\Documents\MAXQDA
Mac /Users/name/Documents/MAXQDA/
If you are working in MAXQDA, open "Open project". Here you can see the full path:
