How do I transfer my files from one computer to another?

Project file

MAXQDA saves your project in a project file with the extension mqda. You can easily transfer this project file from one device to another. Use an email, external storage device, cloud or network storage to do this.

Please copy the project file to a local folder on your new device before opening the file.

If you are using cloud storage, please follow these steps once you have finished your working session to securely save your project in your synced folder:

1) Close MAXQDA.

2) Copy the project file to the synced folder.

3) Double-check that the file has finished uploading before shutting down your device.

External files

MAXQDA stores all files larger than 5MB in a separate folder to prevent the project file from becoming unnecessarily large. If you want to open the project file on another computer or make it available to a colleague, you will also need to transfer the project data, such as video, image, PDF, or audio files, to the other computer.

TeamCloud

If you are working with a TeamCloud project, the easiest way to transfer the project file via TeamCloud is to start a new project cycle and then download the current version on your new device.
