Transcript edited in Transcription Mode
Starting with version 24.2, MAXQDA creates copies of your manually created transcripts at 15-minute intervals while transcription mode is active. If you accidentally delete the text of your transcript (e.g., by accidentally pressing a key combination), you can use this file to restore the text of your transcript.
MAXQDA saves the text of your transcript in the following path and stores it for 30 days. The name of the document contains a timestamp of the creation time:
Win: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\MAXQDA\MAXQDA24\Temp
Mac: /Users/USERNAME/Documents/MAXQDA/MAXQDA24/Temp
Your transcript is saved as a Word file with the name of your transcript. Unfortunately, it does not contain timestamps. You will need to add these manually after importing. You can import this file back into MAXQDA if necessary.
Transcript edited in Edit Mode of Document
Even if you edit transcripts directly from the list of documents in the document browser in edit mode, they will be temporarily saved every 15 minutes starting with MAXQDA 24.11. Only the text is saved. Coding and time stamps must be reinserted afterwards. You can find them in the following folder:
Win: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\MAXQDA\MAXQDA24\Temp
Mac: /Users/USERNAME/Documents/MAXQDA/MAXQDA24/Temp
Transcripts created with MAXQDA Transcription
If you would like to restore an automatic transcript, you can find it online up to seven days after transcription:
